Giacomo Micheli

Professor of Mathematics

Co-Director of the Center for Cryptographic Research at USF

I work in applied algebra, finite fields, cryptography, coding theory, and number theory, with a particular interest in pure mathematics that helps solve concrete problems.

Ph.D. positions

Ph.D. positions are available in our research group. Applications from last-year undergraduate students are also considered, as the program includes a master.

Applied Algebra and Number Theory

Research

My main interests are arithmetic over finite fields and number theoretical questions motivated by computer science. I am especially interested in coding theory and cryptography problems where number theory plays an important role.
